Our Fees
It is impossible to provide an exact estimate of the cost in a family law case as each case is different. Every piece of work we do on behalf of our clients is independently assessed by an external law accountant which we believe ensures the fairest fee.
The number of hours spent on your case will be determined by complexity and the individual circumstances of your case. We will discuss the approximate cost with you at our initial meeting. If additional costs arise due to unforeseen circumstances, we will discuss this with you at the earliest opportunity and we will advise you of any increase in cost.
Our commitment to provide you with the best possible advice includes a free consultation within our drop-in clinic at our office in Links Place every Thursday between 16:30pm and 18:30pm. Should you instruct us during this free consultation then we would arrange a further meeting at a reduced fixed fee rate.
Initial meeting
At our next meeting, we will have already considered all of your circumstances and be fully prepared to hit the ground running. This subsequent meeting will be charged at a reduced fixed fee of £150.00 + VAT. (Total £180).
The fee for this first meeting includes:
- Meeting with you, taking instructions and providing initial advice
- Collecting information from you about your position, your finances and your family circumstances
This meeting will provide you with an overview of your legal position and the options available to you. Following this meeting, we will proceed with charging you at the appropriate hourly rate.
Hourly rate is based on the fee earner that is allocated to your case
Depending on the nature and complexity of your legal matter, the legal work undertaken by us may be completed by one or more members of our team. Below we have set out the hourly charging rates for each of our fee earners.
The hourly charge stated is exclusive of VAT which is charged at 20%.
Fee earner | Hourly rate ex. VAT | VAT | Hourly rate inc. VAT |
Partner | £220.00 | £44.00 | £264.00 |
Senior Associate | £180.00 | £36.00 | £216.00 |
Paralegal | £120.00 | £24.00 | £144.00 |
Travelling rate for all fee earners is subject to duration and complexity of travel and so the fee chargeable will vary accordingly.
The hourly rate does not include any additional outlays which are variable depending on the nature of the case.
